Sun burns off fog; rain in the offing

Dense fog in some parts of the metro-east gave way to bright sunshine Wednesday morning, with much-needed rain expected to finally move into the area overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will be mostly sunny Wednesday with a high temperature of 54 degrees. Showers are expected to arrive around midnight and stick around for at least 24 hours, dumping significant amounts of rain.

The high temperature Thursday is expected to reach 61 degrees with a predicted high of 66 on Friday under mostly sunny skies.
