EAST ST. LOUIS — A worker for Charter Communications Inc. was robbed and struck with a gun as he was leaving a residence in the 900 block of North 70th Street Tuesday evening.
Police are looking for the three gunmen who attacked the worker.
Chief Michael Floore said the worker had completed his work order at the home when the suspects "forced him to the ground, patted him down, and took the two cellphones he had and his wallet. One of the suspects struck the victim in the head with a weapon."
The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
Detailed descriptions of the suspects were not released.
Last month, a UPS delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint while he was delivering packages in East St. Louis.
Floore said the police department plans to "beef up patrol."
He said officers need the public to get involved and call the police department at 482-6700 or CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS if they know anything about crimes. CrimeStoppers is an anonymous tip line that pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
