COLLINSVILLE — A high school senior running for the Unit 10 school board is now being challenged by a former board candidate.
Bryce Richard Lickfield, 17, filed a petition to run for the Unit 10 school board in the April 9 election. Oden Rice has filed an objection to Lickfield's petition.
According to the objection papers, Lickfield filed his statement of economic interests in St. Clair County. Unit 10 covers territory in St. Clair and Madison counties.
Rice contended that since the school district office is located in Collinsville, north of the county line, Lickfield should have filed his statement in Madison County instead.
Lickfield could not be reached for comment. He is currently a senior at Collinsville High School and vice president of the student council. He will turn 18 before the April election.
While Rice was a candidate for the Unit 10 school board in 2011, he is not running in this year's election, according to district officials.
The electoral board for Unit 10 consists of current board members Gary Clark, Wayne White and Ron Throm. The electoral board will meet at noon Friday to hear public comments and decide whether Lickfield can remain on the ballot.
