Worry about preventing another attack before assessing blame

Published: January 9, 2013

The loss of our diplomats in Benghazi will remain in our thoughts for many years. It is high time we start looking at a way to prevent a future happening instead of wasting time trying to lay blame on people in the Obama administration.

My thoughts go back to World War II when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. President Franklin D. Roosevelt immediately took action and declared that a state of war existed between the Japanese and the United States. We had already geared up our industry for the military and to help England through the Lend Lease program.

Trying to lay blame on how the attack could happen without us knowing it came later. To this day no one has been charged with any blame. There was a lot of theories but there was no proof.

I find that there is a witch hunt in trying to blame someone under President Obama for not alerting our military in time to prevent the attack. Not one person in our government knew that the attack was coming. Only the attackers knew. There was no way to prevent it.

Using the local people to protect our diplomats was a big mistake. Congress should have provided funds for more Marines. I blame Congress for lack of foresight in this matter.
