A suspected drunken driver got away from police early Thursday in the metro-east.

According to reports, the driver was originally spotted at about 1:30 a.m. near West Main and 51st streets in Belleville. The driver was pursued on Interstate 55 all the way to Fairmont City, where the chase was called off.

There was no word Thursday morning about the description of the vehicle the suspect was driving.
