The following incidents were listed among the official reports of local law enforcement agencies and court clerks. Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

BELLEVILLE POLICE

tuesDAY, JAN. 8

12:49 p.m. Retail theft -- Walmart, 2601 Green Mount Commons. Corey B. Dawson, 26, was arrested after taking merchandise from the business without paying for the items. Dawson was transported and held pending bond.

4:34 p.m. Residential burglary -- First block of Lakeshore. The victim reported unknown suspects forced entry to her residence by kicking in the front door. Various rooms in the residence were ransacked and property was stolen.

5:05 p.m. Attempted residential burglary -- First block of Lakeshore. The victim reported he discovered unknown person(s) attempted to break in the front door to his residence. The discovery was made as officers were canvassing the neighborhood after a reported burglary at a nearby residence.

5:47 p.m. Residential burglary -- First block of South 30th Street. The victim reported unknown subjects forced entry to his residence through a side door.

6:13 p.m. Retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia -- Walmart, 2601 Green Mount Commons. Lajhaun Berry, 18, was detained by store security after they observed him concealing merchandise on his person and exiting the store. During Berry's arrest he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Berry was transported and held pending bond.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 9

12:47 a.m. Domestic battery -- 1800 block of East C Street. The victim reported her mother's boyfriend/suspect grabbed her by the wrist during an altercation. Her mother stepped in and attempted to separate the two at which time she was struck by the suspect. The suspect was arrested, transported and held pending further investigation.

10:47 a.m. Retail theft -- Walmart, 2601 Green Mount Commons. Markus L. Wicks, 25, concealed merchandise and left the store without paying for the items. Wicks fled toward Southwestern Illinois College where he was apprehended by SWIC security. Wicks was arrested, transported and later transported to the St. Clair County Jail, due to an outstanding warrant.

5:55 p.m. Retail theft -- Walmart, 2601 Green Mount Commons. Drake N. Delong, 18, was arrested after concealing merchandise and leaving the store without paying for the items. Delong was transported and held pending bond.

7:41 p.m. Theft -- Belleville Care and Rehabilitation, 150 N. 27th St. The victim reported when she left her room an unknown suspect stole her property.

9:26 p.m. Attempted burglary to residence -- 7000 block of West Main Street. The victim reported between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., unknown subject(s) attempted to force entry into her residence.

11:35 p.m. Home invasion, domestic battery -- First block of Rosehaven. The victim reported the suspect was waiting in her driveway when she came home. She attempted to enter the house and close the door behind her but he forced the door open and came in. The suspect punched the victim in the face then began fighting the victim #2. Two people entered the residence with the suspect and tried to hold victim #2 back during the incident. The suspects fled when the victim called 911.

THURSDAY, JAN. 10

12:25 a.m. Aggravated fleeing and eluding -- 200 block of North 44th Street. Officers responded to a report of a possible intoxicated juvenile driving recklessly in the parking lot. An officer located the vehicle leaving the lot. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle refused to stop, ignoring several traffic control devices and driving recklessly attempting to elude officers. The pursuit continued into East St. Louis and was terminated as the vehicle drove north on Interstate 255.

12:39 a.m. Disorderly conduct, misuse of 911 -- 200 block of East Garfield. Laquita R. Banks, 33, was issued a non traffic citation after making threats during several 911 calls. Banks was transported to headquarters.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY FELONIES

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 9

Robert C. Emig, 45, of 38 Mark Drive, Fairview Heights, arrested on suspicion of aggravated driving under the influence and drving while driver's license is suspended, subsequent on Dec. 30 by Caseyville police. Emig allegedly drove a red 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada on Illinois 157 in Caseyville, while the defendant was under the influence of alcohol and during a period in which the defendant's driving privileged were suspended for a violation; defendant's driver's license was suspended. Defendant had been previously convicted of driving while license is suspended onFeb. 28, 2011.

John E. Phillips, 21, of 2544 Oepts Ave., St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of forgery on Jan. 8 by Fairview Heights police. Phillips allegedly with the intent to defraud, knowingly delivered to Raqqa Food Mart, 10616 Lincoln Trail, Fairview Heights, a document apparantly capable of defrauding another, in that it was purported to have been made by another, a representative of Midwest Staffing Solutions LLC, said document being a check of Midwest Staffing Solutions LLC, drawn on the Wells Fargo Bank NA of San Francisco, Calif., dated Jan. 8, payable to Jonny Phillips in the amount of $541.96 and signed as drawer an illegible signature, knowing the document to have been thus made.

Darius T. Stewart, 21, of 767 Post Place, East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of forgery on Jan. 8 by Fairview Heights police. Stewart allegedly with the intent to defraud, knowingly delivered to Raqqa Food Mart, 10616 Lincoln Trail, Fairview Heights, a document apparantly capable of defrauding another, in that it was purported to have been made by another, a representative of Midwest Staffing Solutions LLC, said document being a check of Midwest Staffing Solutions LLC, drawn on the Wells Fargo Bank NA of San Francisco, Calif., dated Jan. 8, payable to Darius Stewart in the amount of $563.02 and signed as drawer an illegible signature, knowing the document to have been thus made.

David L. Allen, 58, of 1815 Winstanley Ave., East St. Louis, aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery, physical contact on Jan. 6 by East St. Louis police. Allen allegedly strangled Demetris Cann, a family/household member, in that said defendant grabbed Cann by the neck thereby impeding airflow and knowingly made physical contact with Demetris Cann, in that he grabbed her about the body with his hands.

Luedna S. Bell, 44, of 1803 Bond Ave., East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of retail theft and aggravated battery on Jan. 8 by Fairview Heights police. Bell allegedly took possession of merchandise from Old Navy, 6015 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, being toddler shirts, toddler jeans, toddler sweaters, total retail value in excess of $300; knowingly caused bodily harm to Sharon Smith a merchant who had detained the defendant on an alleged commission of retail theft, in that she pushed Smith into a door with her hands.

TUESDAY, JAN. 8

Dylan J. Baldwin, 28, of Sarasota, Fla., arrested on suspicion of concealing homicidal death by St. Clair County sheriff.

Robert C. Price, 22, of Centreville, arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance by East St. Louis police.

Steve A. Markovic, 35, of Collinsville, warrant arrest by Collinsville police.

Carl Mohead Sr., 49, of Belleville, warrarnt arrest by Belleville police.

Antwone L. Johnson, 33, of Belleville, arrested on suspicion of canceled or suspended or revoked license, suspended or revoked driver's license, traffic violation by St. Clair County sheriff.

MADISON COUNTY SHERIFF

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 2

Lionel Snipes, 52, of 808 Ridge St., Alton, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of retail theft over $300 and one count of retail theft, subsequent. Snipes allegedly attempted to return merchandise that hadn't been paid for Tuesday at the Walmart in Godfrey. He also was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis as he allegedly had 1.5 grams of cannabis on his person. In addition, Snipes was identified as a suspect in two previously reported retail thefts from the Godfrey Walmart on Dec. 18-19.

FRIDAY, JAN. 4

Mark T. Bull, 29, of 3 Hickerson Place, Alton, and Brandon S. Tate, 28, of 396 Prairietown Road, Dorsey, were arrested on retail theft. Bull and Tate allegedly stole a car stereo system, a television and DVD player from the Walmart in Godfrey.

FEDERAL COURT

THURSDAY, JAN. 3

Herman Peterson, 58, of East St. Louis, was sentenced in federal court for defrauding the unemployment insurance program. He was sentenced to 30 days in prison followed by three years probation. Peterson will spend the first six months of his probation on home confinement with electronic monitoring. Peterson also was ordered to repay $15,700 in restitution to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

FRIDAY, JAN. 4

Ontonio Jennings, 37, formerly of Granite City was sentenced in federal court for defrauding the unemployment insurance program. Jennings was sentenced to 10 months in prison followed by two years probation. Jennings was also ordered to repay $5,796 in restitution to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

MONDAY, JAN. 7

Tyler E. Evans, 26, of Belleville, was sentenced in federal district court to three years and 10 months in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The weapons he possessed were also ordered forfeited.
