Wow, the Dec. 21 paper was chuck-full of worthwhile gun and no gun news.

"School tax falling in District 201," by Scott Wuerz.

"Community mourns law enforcement legend," by Jamie Forsythe.

"Background checks for gun sales jump in Illinois," by Associated Press.

I do not own an AR-15, etc.; they are ugly. Most competitive target shooter and hunters have changed calibers and sights. Nothing like a beautiful figured cool maple stock muzzleloader or walnut figured shotgun or rifle.

"Bill Daley considering a run for Illinois governor 2014," by Associated Press. Still from Chicago but he has to be better than Gov. Pat Quinn.

"Judge refuses to toss jury verdict against Chicago cops," by Associated Press. Big high five to Judge Amy St. Eve.

Letters on Opinions page: "Amend the Constitution," by Lee R. Pitzer. That's just what President Obama and the anti Second Amendment people want. And, "A different deadly weapon," by Jeff Hamma. Right on.

Sunday morning TV program comments. George Will said, "three things should be addressed: guns, mental health and violence (TV, videos, rapper music).

As an old target shooter and hunter: Enforce the laws on the books. Illinois has FOID, background checks, etc.

Patriot: 100 percent for the U.S. Constitution. Subversive: Anti Constitution, specifically the Second Amendment. We already lost of our First Amendment freedoms.
