EAST ST. LOUIS — The Police Department is dealing with the city's second homicide of the year.
East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore said a 21-year old male was shot multiple times in the 1400 block of North 44th Street.
George Anderson Schooler, of 703 N. Cherry St., O'Fallon, was located on the ground in front of a residence on North 44th Street about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Floore said.
"He suffered multiple gunshot wounds," Floore said. The victim was rushed from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital where he later died, Floore said.
Police as of Saturday evening had not identified a suspect or determined a motive for the murder, Floore said.
Floore said a call came in over the 911 emergency line reporting a shooting that left a victim on the ground in front of a house.
Police are asking anyone who has information regarding the homicide to call East St. Louis Police at 618-482-6700, Illinois State Police at 618-346-3990 or Crime Stoppers at 866-371 TIPS. This is an anonymous tip line that pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
