Police are questioning the driver of a sport utility vehicle that crashed into a home in Godfrey and claimed the life of a person in the house.
According to police reports, at about 11 p.m. Sunday a sport utility vehicle plowed into a house in the 100 block of Saturn Drive, killing a man inside the house.
The victim has been identified by the Madison County Sheriff's Department as Marlin F. Bushnell, 73.
According to police, officers got a call a few minutes before the fatal crash about a domestic disturbance a block away on Mercury Drive. A person involved in that incident is believed to have sped off angrily after an argument and lost control of the vehicle he was driving and crashed into the house on Saturn. Investigators have not released the suspect's identity because he has not been formally charged.
Madison County Sheriff's Department spokesman Capt. T. Mike Dixon said the suspect ran from the vehicle after he hit the house and was caught by police a short time later at a nearby bar, the Beer Barrel Pub at 7205 Montclair Avenue.
Investigators have not yet released the name of the victim nor the suspect in the crash.
