COLLINSVILLE — Four more people have been charged in an armed home invasion last week in Collinsville.
Five young men broke into a residence in the 500 block of South Clinton on the evening of Jan. 8. Police responding to the armed invasion arrested a juvenile male immediately.
Assistant chief Tom Coppotelli confirmed that no one was injured in the robbery, and that as far as they know, the robbers did not know the people in the house. At least one was using a firearm, he said.
In the follow-up investigation, detectives have since arrested two more juveniles and two 17-year-olds who can be charged as adults.
The Madison County state's attorney's office has charged Aldonovan Bennett, 17, of Belleville and Demarco Jackson, 17, of Collinsville each with armed robbery and home invasion.
Coppotelli said some of the items taken in the robbery were recovered by police.
Charges were formally pressed Friday, and Madison County Circuit Judge James Hackett set bail at $150,000 each. Bennett and Jackson are currently in custody at the Madison County Jail.
The three juvenile defendants also are in custody awaiting charges. Their names have not been released.
