Belleville police: Man gets in woman's car, robs her at Steak 'n Shake drive-thru

Published: January 14, 2013

A 20-year-old New Athens man was charged with burglary, a class 2 felony, following an incident at Steak 'n Shake in Belleville on Saturday.

According to Belleville police, Dwayne S. Tottleben, of 7645 Peacock Site Road, entered a woman's car while she was ordering food in the drive-thru lane of Steak 'n Shake at 4320 W. Main St.

Tottleben inferred he had a gun in his possession; however, one was never displayed, police said. He ordered the victim to drive him to Fairview Heights, but she refused.

Eventually, police said the suspect was dropped off near the Town House Motel, where he left the scene on foot.

Belleville officers located Tottleben in the 400 block of North Illinois, where he was arrested.

Tottleben's bail was set at $150,000. If convicted, he faces three to seven years in prison.
