Gene and Helen DeRuntz of Granite City celebrated their 60th anniversary on January 10th with their family at Tony’s in Alton, Illinois.

Gene and the former Helen Kwiatkowski were married on Jan. 10, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison, Illinois by Fr. Englebert.

Gene is retired from Teamster Local 600 after 45 years and is active with the Knights of Columbus in Granite City for over 50 years.

Helen is retired from the Granite City School District after many years as a cafeteria cook and is active with Granite City Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary for the last 25 years.

They have 5 children: Michael resides in Florida, Daniel (deceased), Philip in the Chicagoland area, Bruce in Carbondale, and Christopher in Granite City.

They have 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
