— Two men were arrested on drug charges following a five-month investigation.

The Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southern Illinois arrested Rory Morse, 24, of Alton, and Charles Thomas, 22, of Edwardsville. The unit also seized several pounds of marijuana and several thousand dollars, according to Joe Beliveau, commander of MEGSI.

The investigation began in September in the Edwardsville, Wood River and Alton areas and ended Jan. 10.

The Madison County state's attorney's office charged Morse with calculated cannabis conspiracy, a class three felony. Bond for Morse was set at $100,000.

Thomas was charged with calculated cannabis conspiracy, delivery of 30-500 grams of cannabis, and possession with intent to deliver more than 500 grams of cannabis. Bond for Thomas was set at $100,000.

"MEGSI anticipates similar charges on several other individuals in the conspiracy," Beliveau said.
