Clearer picture emerging of St. Clair Township supervisor

Published: January 15, 2013

Until recently I thought I just disagreed with Tim Buchanan, the St. Clair Township supervisor, as to the proper approach to and scope of government.

As the curtain is pulled on Buchanan and the smoke and mirrors that he deploys to fool the voters, it leaves a clear and unflattering picture of him. In his recent letter to the BND he juxtaposes the word foreigner with Fairmont City; a clear effort at race baiting.

He has spent his whole life at the public trough. He draws a teacher's pension that was enhanced by the now illegal padding of his annual salary in his last three years. He draws a full-time salary and benefits for him and his family, with the accrual of a new government pension for what should be a part-time position.

Even the BND, in a recent editorial, called out Buchanan on his handling of the Swansea sewer expansion. Buchanan was chairman of the Environmental Committee that planned the sewer plant expansion. Just a few short years ago, he fully understood the costs associated with the plant.

What do we call those who attempt to divide our country and avoid personal scrutiny through the use of such insidious tactics? Tell us to do as they say not as they do as they personally enrich themselves?

I think as the public demands the answers to these questions and Buchanan is forced to come clean, a not so complimentary and murky picture of him will become clear. Say cheese, Tim.
