BELLEVILLE — Five vehicles were involved in a collision before 9 a.m Wednesday at Illinois 161 and Lebanon Avenue in Belleville, leaving at least one person hurt.

A witness said a vehicle heading south on Lebanon Avenue collided with vehicles heading west on Illinois 161, forcing them into the eastbound lanes of Illinois 161 and hitting other vehicles.

One person was seen being loaded into an ambulance. Police at the scene could not immediately provide information.

Traffic lanes were congested but not closed during the accident.
