Tune in to 'Price Is Right' to root for metro-east man

Published: January 16, 2013

Jason Denton, of Hartford, is dying to tell you how he did on "The Price Is Right."

But he can't

You'll have to tune in at 11 a.m. Thursday on KMOV, Channel 4, to see if the funeral director at Irwin Chapel in Granite City and Glen Carbon won the big showcase.

"All I can say is, 'Jason Denton, come on down!'" said Denton, 38, in a phone interview. "It was an exciting day, no matter what."

Jason was in Hollywood with his mother, Terry Denton, of Hartford, and two of her friends, Norma Goben, of Hartford, and Brenda Nurnberger, of Brighton when the show was taped Nov. 7.

The tourists got in line early and someone from the show took their photos, gave them nametags and numbers.

"A guy named Stan interviewed us. When I told him I was in the funeral business, I think that did it."

Stan picked Jason to come on down and compete on the show.

Were the ladies in his group disappointed they didn't get picked?

"Not at all. We had a blast. I got to meet Drew Carey. He was wonderful. ... And I got to say 'Hello, Dolly,' to Dolly Parton on the air. I'm a big fan."

Whatever happens, Jason considers himself a winner.
