The recent so-called fiscal cliff affair shows how worthless the leaders of this country (both Republican and Democrats) are for the middle class.

President Obama claims he wanted to raise the rich's tax rate. While he says this, in the same bill he allows many special tax write-offs for the wealthy.

Ask any tax preparer, the hardest part of filing a tax return is figuring out what is taxable income. Much of what is to be gained by raising the tax rate on the rich is being lost to special write-offs for a select few.

The Republicans might have huffed and puffed but went along with it just the same. You see, the powers that be only watch for those who massage them and the heck with what's best for the middle class and the country has a whole.
