East St. Louis remained perhaps the hottest team in the metro-east Friday with a 75-48 victory over visiting O'Fallon in a Southwestern Conference game.
It was the ninth consecutive victory for the Flyers, who are 13-6 overall and 4-3 in the SWC.
Senior Deshawn Munson led East Side with 20 points. No other player reached double figures, although nine of them contributed points. Senior Johnny McCray had nine points.
The Flyers were just 8-for-24 from the free-throw line.
Nokomis 45, Columbia 40
Nokomis placed three players in double figures and outscored Columbia 13-9 in the key third quarter to advance to the championship game of the Litchfield Invitational.
Adam Babb and Michael Hunsaker had 13 points apiece for the Eagles, who fell to 11-8.
Nokomis will play Roxana for the championship at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Roxana defeated Mount Zion 74-57 in the other semifinal behind 34 points from Hunter Reine.
Cahokia 62, Collinsville 49
The Comanches clinched the championship of the Jerseyville Mid-Winter Classic by getting past the Kahoks.
Collinsville led 14-13 after one quarter, but the Comanches outscored it 22-10 in the second quarter to take control.
Derenzo Jennings led the Comanches (19-2) with 17 points. Senior Keenan Minor and junior Darius Austin had 14 points apiece.
Tanner Houck led the Kahoks (8-12) with 13 points while senior Falando Wilkinson had 12. Senior Briley Kellison had 10.
Marquette 51, Alton 50
Junior DeAntae McMurray scored 18 points and junior Deion Lavender added 13 as the Explorers (13-6) nipped Alton.
The game was tied at 27 at halftime and at 40 after three quarters.
Senior Tyrome Parker led Alton (10-11) with 16 points.
The tournament concludes Saturday. Cahokia is undefeated in the tourney, while every other team has at least two losses.
