Belleville focused on the wrong hole

Published: January 19, 2013

Belleville aldermen were worried about the hole in downtown Belleville and someone falling into it even though it had an orange fence and barricades around it.

Lindenwood University had a 4-foot deep hole next to a sidewalk on 2400 W. Main St. and no markers or barricades of any kind. The university was notified 48 hours previously about the hole but the person was told to mind his own business. Next day someone fell in the hole and had to have the Fire Department pull him out. Luckily the person was not hurt.
