Madison County state's attorney to speak about heroin, ID theft

Published: January 21, 2013

Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons will make a pair of presentations Tuesday designed to help keep local residents safe.

At 9 a.m. he will appear at Triad Middle School, 9539 U.S. Highway 40 in St. Jacob, to speak to students about the dangers of heroin. At 6:30 p.m. he will appear at the Travel Center of America truck stop at 819 Edwardsville Road in Troy to speak about how to avoid identity theft.

"The more kids know about how destructive heroin can be, the better their decisions will be as they get older," Gibbons said about the anti-heroin talk.

The presentation is part of the school's Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.

The identity theft program will be hosted by the Troy Lions Club. It will include tips about what to do if you think you have been a victim of identity fraud.
