Lauren Nicole Jalinsky, daughter of William and Mary Jo Jalinsky of Smithton, is engaged to Derik John Schwaegel, son of Kevin and Staci Schwaegel of Freeburg.

Lauren is a 2006 graduate of Freeburg Community High School, a 2010 graduate of Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville with a Bachelors degree in Economics and Finance and a 2011 graduate of Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville with a Masters degree in Economics and Finance. She is a Logistics Engineer at Anheuser-Busch InBev in St. Louis.

Derik is a 2006 graduate of Freeburg Community High School. He has a 2010 IUOE Engineering Certificate and is a Stationary Engineer at Hertz Investment Group in St. Louis.

They are planning a June 2013 wedding.
