Belleville blotter: Theft reported at Townhouse Motel

— The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

SATURDAY

8:08 p.m. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY - 800 block of Sherman. The victim, a 28-year-old male, reported he had two male suspects in their teens approached him from behind and told him to give them his money. The victim stated he ran out into traffic trying to flag someone down to help him. After observing the two subjects run northbound on Muren, he ran to the Belleville Police to call the police.

SUNDAY

9:22 p.m. DRUNKENNESS - Memorial Hospital, 4500 Memorial Dr. Joseph D Birardier Jr., 33, was arrested after being located highly intoxicated and creating a disturbance at the emergency room entrance. Birardier was transported to headquarters and held pending sobriety.

MONDAY

7:32 a.m. THEFT UNDER $500 - Townhouse Motel, 400 S. Illinois. The owner reported U.S. currency was taken from a register by the suspect, a 46-year-old male. The owner signed an nontraffic citation for the theft.
