This is in response to letter writer and St. Clair Township Supervisor Tim Buchanan, who accused me of being "foreign" and an "agent" for political candidate Skip Kernan.
First, I am a born-and-raised Fairmont City American and second, I have never met Kernan. But I read this paper and have access to the Internet. All this info is for the public.
Buchanan has drawn a public paycheck his whole working life. It's there online. Kernan didn't have to tell me about him being a former Belleville High School District 201 school teacher who made a $100,000 salary and whose pension is now $70,000 a year.
Kernan didn't have to tell me about his $63,000-a-year township salary and that the township pays more than $20,000 a year for his and his dependents' health insurance and that his is given IMRF pension benefits too. This is all on the township website for anyone to see and find out. So leave out Kernan, please.
I have followed politics and politicians for more than 35 years. I know many good and bad politicians. I can see any scams and shams, especially in St. Clair Township. There is truly a very rotten odor around there, and it sure isn't all the "free cheese."
