Peggy Sue may get All Shook Up and Fall to Pieces, when Elvis, Buddy Holly and Patsy Cline share the stage with the MidSouth Revival Band Saturday at the Catholic Knights and Ladies of Illinois hall, 2800 N. Illinois in Belleville.

"Night with the Stars" is sponsored by the Optimist Club of Belleville at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6. Admission is $30 per ticket in advance (618-235-0498hyr) or $35 at the door.

Elvis (Steve Davis), Buddy (Tom Hickey) and Patsy (Anna Blair) will be your guides for a sentimental journey back to some of the biggest hits of all time.

Follow the tracks to the Great Train Expo Saturday and Sunday at Belle-Clair Fairgrounds Exposition Center, 200 South Belt East in Belleville.

You'll see operating model trains, intricate layouts andhundreds of tables of train merchandise and accessories. There will be a train for kids to ride, trains for kids to play with and an amazine LEGO exhibit.

Free workshops and demonstrations and door prizes are also part of the action.

It's open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Admission is $7 for adults; children under 12 get in free with a paid adult. Parking is free, too.

Early Mardi Gras

You don't have to wait until the middle of February to celebrate Mardi Gras.

The Eastside Mardi Gras Association is cranking up the fun with its 2013 Mardi Gras Ball at Saturday at Swansea Improvement Hall, 301 Service St. in Swansea.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the Zydeco Crawdaddys will play their Cajun-flavored music from 8 to midnight.

Admission is $20 per person. That includes a strand of beads, draft beer, soda and snacks. If you're feeling lucky, try the 50/50 raffle, the barrel-of-booze raffle, the Lottery Tree raffle or the Jack Daniels raffle.

Participants can dress casually or wear Mardi Gras attire.

Comedy for a Cause

O'Fallon Moose Lodge has the perfect evening planned for you on Saturday: comedy and a chicken dinner -- all for a good cause.

Justin Simms, a Moose member from O'Fallon was injured in a motorcycle accident. Proceeds will help pay his medical bills.

The event, featuring three comedians, is at the American Legion Post 137, 109 Penn St. in O'Fallon. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., dinner is at 7. The comedy show starts at 8. Admission is $15 per person, $25 per couple.

Josh Arnol, 2011 Riverfront Times Comedian of the Year, is the headliner. Bruce Veach, also a Moose member and a nationally touring comic you might have heard at comedy etc., also will perform. Amber Klear is the emcee.

King salute

Southwestern Illinois College will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. today at the Belleville Campus Main Complex Theater, 2500 Carlyle Ave.

Speakers include SWIC student Pacia Anderson, SWIC Success Specialist Dale Zink and AmeriCorps Field Coordinator Earnestine Gilbert. All three will share stories and experience that reflect on King's life and legacy.

Retired Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Bob Ellison will sing, a video highlighting the 50th anniversary of King's "I Have a Dream" speech will be shown and the Marin Luther king Jr. Building Bridges Awards will be given.
