The Homeless Action Council hopes agencies and individuals will help conduct a Point in Time Count of the homeless people in St. Clair County.
The Point In Time Count will be held on Jan. 31 in conjunction with Project Homeless Connect at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation Center in East St. Louis.
Agencies and individuals who come in contact with homeless individuals and their families are being asked by the Homeless Action Council to complete a brief survey on any homeless clients seeking services on Jan. 31.
To receive a survey or become a volunteer, contact Latosha Johnson at 277-6790 ext. 3330.
Project Homeless Connect is a national one-day event with the goal of bringing together service providers with those who need the services. Agencies in the region will be at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center at 101 Jackie Joyner-Kersee Circle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide homeless individuals with hot meals, hair cuts, medical and mental health service, VA information and other social services support.
Volunteers and drivers are needed to help transport homeless people to the center. Anyone interested in helping can contact Gerry Hasenstab at 398-5616.
