COLLINSVILLE — One of the seven candidates running for City Council has dropped out of the race.
Anthony Albertina has filed papers to withdraw his name from the ballot in St. Clair and Madison counties. Albertina confirmed that he has taken a job as recreation supervisor for the Decatur Park District, and will no longer be a Collinsville resident.
Albertina, 30, was first elected to the Collinsville Unit 10 School Board in 2003 and served until 2010.
This was to be his second attempt to win a seat on the Collinsville City Council. In 2011, Albertina came in third among eight candidates for two seats on the City Council.
Albertina was running for the two-year term vacated by councilwoman Liz Dalton when she was elected to the Madison County Board in 2012. With Albertina's withdrawal, three people remain on the ballot for that seat: Robert Graham, Rob Dorman and Karen Woolard.
Running for the two four-year seats currently available are incumbents Jeff Kypta and Nancy Moss, as well as challenger Jesse Hoskin.
