MADISON — Freezing temperatures made it tough for firefighters early Friday morning as they tried to put out a blaze in Madison.
Firefighters from several departments received a call at about 2 a.m. to a burning home near the intersection of Terry Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
According to fire department reports, crews had trouble fighting the fire because a hydrant close to the burning home was frozen. No one was injured in the blaze and the house turned out to be vacant.
The Illinois State Fire Marshal will investigate the cause of the fire.
