Belleville blotter: Fleeing gas thief hits clerk with car mirror

Published: January 25, 2013

— The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

Thursday

4:40 p.m. AGGRAVATED BATTERY/RETAIL THEFT - Circle K, 2709 W. Main St. An employee/victim reported she confronted the driver of a silver 4 door vehicle to inform him that his credit card was not working. The vehicle sped off and struck the victim in the elbow, breaking off the vehicle's mirror. The vehicle left without paying for $30 in gas.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
