Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday night at an auto parts store.
At 8:30 p.m., police were called to the Auto Zone store at 2615 State St. to investigate an armed robbery.
The unnamed victim in the store told police that two black males wearing black bandanas over their faces walked into the store with guns and announced a robbery, Police Chief Michael Floore said.
"Only their eyes were showing, and they were wearing blue hoodies," Floore said.
"They ordered the clerk to open the register. They took between $400 and $500 before they ran from the store and got into a creme-colored Buick that didn't have any registration showing," Floore said.
Anyone with any information about the crime is urged to call the East St. Louis Police Department at 482-6700 or CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS (this is an anonymous tip line that pays up to $1,000).
