An East St. Louis man was charged with felony theft in connection with the robbery of a pizza delivery driver earlier this week.
Eldren J. Staten, 18, of 3623 Trendley Ave., on Saturday called the Imo's Pizza shop at 2408 State Street and ordered two 12-inch pizzas and two orders of chicken wings using the name "Bam." The delivery address was a home in the 2700 block of Trendley, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department.
When the 23-year-old delivery driver arrived to make the delivery, police say Staten was sitting in the driveway in his P.T. Cruiser facing toward the street. He jumped out of his vehicle and grabbed the food from the driver then got back in his car and drove away.
Staten was pulled over a short time later by sheriff's deputies in the 3100 block of Trendley and arrested. He was jailed and his bail was set at $100,000.
