GLEN CARBON - A boil ordered remained in effect for most of the village Friday, one day after water service was restored.

Residents were warned that the water may be discolored when it first returned. Residents should not do laundry until the water runs clear, according to village officials.

Most of the residents have water service returned, so the village ended the distribution of bottled water.

A major water main break drained water from most of Glen Carbon beginning Tuesday during the rainstorm. The break was not located until midday Thursday, by which time most of the village was without water.

Any resident without water service is asked to call the village hall at 618-288-1200.
