Quit fighting gun control

Published: February 1, 2013

It is time for all the people who are claiming that the president is harming their Second Amendment rights to stop this rhetoric. The only people who should be concerned are those with felony convictions or a poor mental health history.

Yes, the president is calling to reinstate the ban on semi-automatic rifles (commonly and incorrectly called assault rifles). While I am not in complete agreement with this approach, I understand that he is attempting to rid the country of weapons that his experts have concluded have killing power that is too dangerous for the average citizen (similar limitations exist for hand grenades, rocket launchers, cruise missiles, etc.). I, therefore, support this point of the initiative with the understanding that this is for the greater good of the country.

Yes, the president is calling for a limitation on magazine capacities: requesting a new limit of 10 rounds per magazine. This is another point in the president's initiative that I disagree with (it should be less). Again, I acquiesce in support of the greater good of our country.

Any reasonable and patriotic citizen will recognize that this continues to make most guns for sale today legally own tomorrow.

No one is coming to your house to take away your weapons or ammunition. Please stop the madness now.
