Let's see Obama make his play

Published: February 1, 2013

President Obama and the Democrats have figured out a clever way to dodge/spin/avoid the budget deficit problem with the spending limit. Now he says he will not negotiate over the debt limit as it is Congress' duty to pay the bills it already has approved.

OK, that's fair, we do need to pay our bills. What else is fair? To fix the root of the problem. To not spend future money we do not have. To create a budget that shows the American people that Obama will make some unpopular choices.

The Republicans have now said they will extend the spending limit long enough to give Obama time to get his act together. To submit a budget by April 15.

Nothing is more fair. No one is in his way. It's time to show us he can make tough choices too, not just the easy ones.

It's been popular to call this "kicking the can down the road," I propose we change it to "pushing a snowball uphill." Because sooner or later is has to roll back down, the only question is how much it destroys in its path.

Obama loves to play basketball, so the ball is in his court. Does he have a play to take it to the hoop or will he continue to stall?
