A 24-year-old New Athens man was seriously injured in a crash Friday night on Old Illinois 13 near Nuernberger Road southeast of New Athens, the Illinois State Police reported.

James R. Light IV was driving west in a 1997 Honda Civic that went out of control on a curve and rolled over on the roadway, the state police agency said in a news release.

Light was seriously injured and flown from the scene by ARCH Helicopter to St. Louis University Hospital. Light was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
