Name the bridge after the taxpayers

Published: February 3, 2013

Well, the expected has happened. All the sports nuts are on their soap box with the bandwagon, circling the block carrying a brass band on board, to name the new river bridge after Stan Musial.

I know that Musial was a great baseball player, and I'm quite sure that he was a good man. But enough already. There is a statue of him in front of the Cardinal stadium, and other monuments and memorabilia all around the ballpark, with more to come in the future.

For once, I would like to see a road, a park, a bridge or other public entity named after someone other than a politician or an athlete who had nothing to do with it being built. How about this idea? Let's name the new bridge the Taxpayer Bridge. You know, after those people who actually paid for it.
