The Ellis Grove Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a fundraiser Sunday to raise money to help rebuild a historic building destroyed by fire.
The shelter house at Fort Kaskaskia was completely gutted by a fire in November. The open-air shelter building was built in 1942 with post-Depression money and was deemed a historic site. It was often used for weddings and other family gatherings.
For $5, patrons can enjoy all they can eat of the fire department's famous chili and a sandwich, either a hamburger or pork burger, while supplies last. All proceeds will go to the rebuilding project.
The fundraiser runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the fire department in Ellis Grove. Fore more information, call the fire department at 618-859-FIRE (3473).
