Granite City man charged in connection with two burglaries

Published: February 4, 2013

A 28-year-old Granite City man was charged with two counts of felony burglary in connection with recent burglaries in rural Madison County. Investigators with the Madison County Sheriff's Department have linked Trevor Pogue, of 2249 Monroe St., to two of the four burglaries that occurred last week.

Capt. Mike Dixon said Pogue was connected to a burglary Wednesday of a garage in the first block of Deer Run East in Pocahontas and to a vehicle burglary Thursday in the first block of Deer Run East in Pocahontas. Investigators were successful in recovering approximately $800 worth of the stolen tools taken during the garage burglary, Dixon said.

Pogue was arrested Friday on an unrelated warrant issued out of Madison County for burglary. He was transported to the Madison County Jail, where he remains in custody on $50,000.

Dixon said no evidence was found during this investigation that linked Pogue to the two other burglaries that occurred in Madison County last week.

The remaining two home burglaries are still under investigation. One burglary occurred in the 5000 block of Hoxey Drive in Alhambra, where a 32-inch Samsung television was stolen, and another burglary occurred in the 12000 block of Mill Road in New Douglas, where a Compaq Presario laptop computer was taken.

Anyone with information about either of these burglaries is asked to contact the Madison County Sheriff's Department at 618-692-0871 or the anonymous tip line at 618-296-3000.
