Blotter preview: Police chase down man accused of stealing from Circle K

Published: February 5, 2013

— The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

MONDAY

11:25 p.m. RETAIL THEFT - Circle K, 2709 W. Main St. Employees from the store flagged down the officer and pointed out a suspect that had just taken merchandise from the store and was fleeing the scene. After a short foot pursuit the suspect, a 39-year-old male, was apprehended. The suspect was arrested, transported to headquarters and held pending further investigation.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
