Residents along Interstate 64 were evacuated late Tuesday when a tanker truck overturned in Washington County near Centralia.

Police have not revealed exactly what toxic chemical was loaded into the truck. But they called the decision to evacuate the area and close the interstate a precaution.

A second truck was brought in to haul off the liquid, the road was re-opened and residents were allowed back in their homes by early Wednesday. There was no information available about whether anyone was injured in the accident.
