BELLEVILLE — More than 20 players from all over the country made their way to the Lindenwood-Belleville campus to sign on as as a future member of the Lynx football squad Wednesday for national signing day Wednesday.
The 2012 Inaugural Lynx football team posted a 4-6 record under first-year coach Jeff Fisher.
Bringing back some seasoned players, Fisher looks forward to the talent being added to the mix this season.
"Not only is this an excellent group of athletes, but a tremendous group of students and young men," Fisher said. "We felt it was extremely important to be able to back up our inaugural class with an outstanding group, both to provide immediate help as well as quality depth."
The Lindenwood-Belleville staff recruited heavily in the metro-east, signing significant talent from the surrounding area.
"To be able to bring in strong talent from the local pool was also very important to us, and we feel very good about accomplishing that goal as well," Fisher said. "Our work is not done, but our assistant coaching staff has done an amazing job of identifying and evaluating student-athletes. We have a tremendous coaching staff and it has been great to see them grow with the program."
The Lynx recruiting class of 2013 includes these metro-east players: Clayton Bourgeious, LB, Waterloo; Tom Bourgeious, DL, Waterloo/McKendree; Tyrus Brothers, DL, O'Fallon; Guillermo Davis, RB, Belleville West; Ben Demoulin, LB, Columbia; Donnie Foster, TE, Belleville West; Greg Gibson, WR, O'Fallon; Justice Goeken, LB, Triad/Greenville College; Zach Guinn, OL, Belleville West; Tyler Magruder, WR, Red Bud/Culver Stockton; Brian Nemsky, OL, Granite City; Trey Parker, DB, Belleville East/Jackson State; Eric Read, WR, Columbia and Austin Rickhoff, QB, Central.
