Neil Schroeder, a prosecutor in the Madison County state's attorney's office, has been selected for an associate judgeship in the 3rd Judicial Circuit.
The 3rd Judicial Circuit is comprised of Madison and Bond counties. Associate judges are elected by circuit judges, who are elected by voters.
Schroeder was chosen for the judgeship formerly held by Circuit Judge Kyle Napp. Napp was elected to her circuit judgeship in November.
Schroeder earned his undergraduate degree in 1989 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and his law degree in 1993 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
He has been an assistant state's attorney since 1998.
