I see letters and callers urging Illinois lawmakers to approve same-sex marriage. Given that we live in a post-modern society that has largely turned its back on God, I have no doubt this will eventually take place. However, how is it that we have recently taken a position that defies the definition of marriage that has existed since time began? Who in their right mind thinks that we have the authority to redefine that which God has deemed Holy matrimony?

Homosexuality and all other forms of behavior, which Scripture plainly defines as sin, has existed since the genesis of mankind. I know that man is not capable of leading a good enough life to achieve heaven. I also know that man's only hope of salvation is to throw himself at the feet of Jesus in repentance.

Just how, I ask, do we repent while urging our officials to make a law declaring homosexuality a legally protected state? Would legalizing homosexual marriage be any different than making theft, or taking your neighbor's wife, a legally protected enterprise?

I am just another poor sinner saved by grace.
