Ill-informed letter writer Robert Kirkland has shown again that the biggest problem we have is not guns but people who know nothing about them and are making decisions based on lies of the liberal left. He says we should stop the sale of assault weapons but no one is selling assault weapons and no one has been. An assault rifle (not assault weapon) is first and foremost full-automatic and those are already illegal for most people. The assault weapon term was invented by the liberal left to scare people who don't know any better.
Second, the comment "We do not need 30-round clips to go deer hunting" is pointless. First, a magazine is not a "clip" which shows that this writer has zero knowledge about guns of any kind. No one is talking about deer hunting. Most gun owners do not hunt deer and never will.
We are collectors and enthusiasts who own gun because we enjoy them for their historical, artistic, competition and recreational purposes and interests. This is no more illegal, dangerous or wrong than someone who collects automobiles for the same reasons. If someone does want to hunt, the magazine size is already limited by law in most states.
If he thinks passing another law against already law-abiding citizens or inanimate objects is going to stop any criminal, he is obviously looking for an easy but absolutely useless answer to an entirely different problem.
