A lock down at Lewis & Clark Community College has been lifted after it was determined that a report of a man with a gun on campus was determined to be a false alarm.
According to college officials, a student observed another student with a gun on his person in the Math/Science building about 11 a.m. Monday. The student sent a text to her sister who notified the Madison County Sheriff's Department.
"The subject was an off duty police officer, no one was threatened or harmed or in danger," Madison County Sheriff's Department Capt. T. Mike Dixon said about the incident. "At this point, it doesn't appear to be anything criminal."
At 11:24 a.m., an "all clear" message was sent to students via the Lewis & Clark's Emergency Notification System.
