Both sides have weighed in on gun control since the shooting in Newtown, Conn. Some are reasonable, some downright foolish. Seems like the liberal Democrats' interpretation of history goes something like this:
After a long and hard-fought war with the British to gain their independence and freedom, the founders sat down to write a constitution. George Washington said freedom of speech should be our first priority, so we'll make the First Amendment to cover freedom of speech. Thomas Jefferson said OK, but what are we going to do about all of those deer in the woods? George said, we'll shoot them. Thomas said OK, we'll make the Second Amendment to allow us to carry guns so we can shoot them troublesome deer. George said, OK.
Just think, if it wasn't for deer we wouldn't have the Second Amendment.
