Published: February 13, 2013

The woman murdered and left in an East St. Louis street was identified Wednesday.

Amanda Hand, 29, was shot in the head early Tuesday and left on North 15th Street between Belmont and Ohio streets, St. Clair County Coroner Rick Stone said. He said he did not have an address for Hand. Public records listed a recent address in Bethalto and several prior addresses in Collinsville.

East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore said Tuesday that Hand was known to be a streetwalker. She had no criminal record in St. Clair or Madison counties other than traffic offenses.

Hand was found shot and fully clothed, lying in the middle of the street at 7:07 a.m. Tuesday by a passer-by, police said. She had been shot within several hours of being discovered and had not been there overnight.

Police asked anyone with information about the homicide to call East St. Louis Police at (618) 482-6700, state police at (618) 346-3990 or CrimeStoppers at (866) 371-8477. CrimeStoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
