Megan Wienstroer had 22 points, including a perfect 15-for-15 from the free-throw line, as the Okawville Rockets beat the Carrollton Hawks 41-36 on Thursday in the championship game of the Class 1A Lebanon Girls Basketball Sectional.

Wienstroer scored 10 of her points in the fourth quarter in helping the Rockets seal the win.

The Rockets (23-8) will play Mount Pulaski (28-4) at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Illinois College in the Class 1A Jacksonville Super-Sectional.

Mount Pulaski captured its first-ever sectional title by beating Illni Bluffs 72-33 Thursday in the Mount Pulaski Sectional.

The Hawks, who ended their season at 24-6, were led by Patsy Coonrod with 11 points.

Mater Dei 36, Effingham 31

Senior Emily Koelling scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Knights past the Effingham Flaming Hearts in the championship game of the Class 3A Centralia Regional.

Senior Anna Lampe added six points for Mater Dei (23-6), which will play Columbia (21-7) in the semifinals of the Waterloo Sectional at 6 p.m. Monday.

Effingham led 15-6 in the first quarter, but Mater Dei trimmed its deficit to 15-11 at the end of the period. The Knights tied the game at 18 at halftime before taking the lead for good midway through the third quarter.

Mater Dei led 32-31 when the Flaming Hearts had the ball in the final seconds. But a turnover gave the ball back to the Knights, and Lampe sank two free throws with 17.5 seconds to play to extend the lead to 34-31.

The Knights then buckled down on defense, swarming Effingham's perimeter players as they looked for a game-tying 3-pointer.

The Flaming Hearts managed only a weak attempt from the corner that was grabbed out of the air by Koelling, who was fouled. Koelling clinched the outcome with two free throws with three seconds to play.
