Records needed for a grand jury investigation were missing as a result of a "mailroom room issue" but were quickly recovered Friday, according to St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly.
The records were mailed to the St. Clair County Building following a grand jury subpoena issued to an Effingham company. The records were sent the St. Clair County Jury Commission and not the State's Attorney's Office, Kelly said.
The records were mailed last month, but could not be located Friday afternoon, Kelly said.
Kelly said the records were located within minutes after a mass email about the records was sent to county employees. Assistant State's Attorney Benjamin Henning asked within the email for the materials to be returned to the State's Attorney's Office "no questions asked."
The records contained sensitive information but were found sealed, Kelly said.
