Stormy weather on the way for Monday

The first of a pair of storms expected to hit the metro-east this week should arrive shortly after noon Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 100 percent chance of showers and potentially a thunderstorm Monday afternoon. While the storm is not expected to be severe, gusty winds of up to 41 miles an hour will arrive with the rain.

The high temperature Monday is expected to reach 56 degrees.

The forecast is for sunny weather and high temperatures in the mid 30s Tuesday and Wednesday. The second storm is expected to hit Wednesday evening and last into Thursday.

There is a 30 percent chance of snow Wednesday evening and an 80 percent chance of sleet and freezing rain Thursday with a high of 33 degrees.
