Rescue workers at a Madison home destroyed by fire searched in vain through the rubble for the owners of the home.
After searching the site, emergency workers said that they believe no one was in the home when it burned.
According to police reports, at about 3 a.m. officers noticed smoke pouring from the home near the intersection of Hill and Booker streets. Police called fire fighters, but there was nothing that could be done to save the house.
Apparently the building had no working utilities. Police said they believe that the owner sometimes stayed in the home anyway.
